Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced:
IITJEE (Advanced) will be jointly conducted by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee. These institutes are henceforth referred to as the zonal IITs under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB). The details of the pattern and the dates of examination, eligibility criteria and how to apply are outlined below.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE (Advanced):
Candidates who wish to appear JEE (Advanced) must write Paper-1 of JEE (Main) in the month of Apri. For eligibility conditions to appear in JEE (Main), please refer https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/. Only 2,24,000 candidates (including all categories) who qualify in paper - 1 of JEE (Main) will be eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced).

Distribution of top 2,24,000 candidates across various categories is as follows:
1) Top 1,13,120 (50.5%) from Common Merit List
2) Top 60,480 (27%) from Other Backward Classes-Non creamy layer OBC (NCL)
3) Top 33,600 (15%) from Scheduled Caste (SC)
4) Top 16800 (7.5%) from Scheduled Tribe (ST)

5% of the total candidates in each category are reserved for PwD candidates as per GoI norms.

Minimum Marks in Qualifying Examination (QE):
Admission to IITs and ISM Dhanbad will be based only on category wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE (Advanced), subject to the condition that such candidates are in the top 20 percentile of successful candidates of their Boards in respective categories.

In case a Board does not provide the information regarding the cut-off for top 20 percentile of successful candidates, the candidate will have to produce a certificate from the concerned Board stating that he/she falls within the top 20 percentile. In case the percentile score is not available from any testing agency, the CBSE cut-off score for top 20 percentile for the students category will be used.

If the candidate fails to do so, then the CBSE percentile will be used as the criteria for deciding minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination.

Candidate who passed their QE in 2015 will be considered on the basis of the top 20 percentile cut off marks of their boards in 2015. Candidate, who passed in 2014 and would improve their performance of QE, will be considered on the basis of cut off marks of their respective Boards in their respective category.

If any Board awards only letter grades with providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying the equivalent marks, and submit it at the time of counseling. In case such a certificate is not provided the decision taken by the Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) of JEE (Advanced) will be final.

Number of Attempts in JEE (Advanced):
A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times and that too, in consecutive years. Therefore, JEE (Advanced) should be either the candidates First attempt OR the Second consecutive attempt.

Candidates Admitted Through Earlier JEE Advanced:
Candidates who have taken admission (irrespective of whether or not they continued in any of the programs) or accepted the admission by paying the registration fee at any of the IITs, IT-BHU Varanasi or ISM Dhanbad, are NOT ELIGIBLE to appear in JEE (Advanced).

Procedure for determining the Cut-Off marks and ranking:
Only those candidates who attempted both Paper-1 and Paper-2 of JEE (Advanced) will be considered for the ranking. Marks in Physics in JEE (Advanced) will be equal to marks in Physics Part of Paper-1 plus marks in Physics Part of Paper-2. Similar procedures will be followed for Chemistry and Mathematics. The sum of the marks obtained in the individual subject will be the aggregate marks for the candidate.

Rank Lists/Merit Lists:
Based on the performance in JEE (Advanced), a Common Merit List (CML) will be prepared. Candidates must score at least 10% in each subject and 35% in aggregate in order to be in the CML.

Separate merit lists will be prepared corresponding to OBC (NCL), SC and ST categories. Candidates of OBC (NCL) category must score at least 9% in each subject and 31.5% in aggregate in order to be in the OBC merit list. Candidate of SC and ST categories must score at least 5% in each subject and 17.5% in aggregate in order to be in their respective merit lists.

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main:

Introduction and Scheme of Examination:
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) from 2019 onwards. This Examination was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018.
JEE Main examination will be conducted in two sessions: January Session and April Session.
Candidates who are not satisfied with their performance in January session can apply again for April session.
The Paper of JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programs offered by the IITs.

About National Testing Agency (NTA)
National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established as a premier, specialist, autonomous and self-sustained testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions.
To assess competence of candidates for admissions and recruitment has always been a challenge in terms of matching with research based international standards, efficiency, transparency and error free delivery. The National Testing Agency is entrusted to address all such issues using best in every field, from test preparation, to test delivery and to test marking.

Year of Passing Qualifying Examination (QE):
Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam or any other qualifying examination in present year or previous academic year are eligible to appear in JEE (Main).

Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th/any other Qualifying examination in order to be eligible for writing JEE (Main).

Eligibility Criteria for Appearing In JEE Main:
The minimum academic qualification for appearing in JEE (Main) is that the candidate must have passed in final examination of Class 12th or other qualifying examination.

All the candidates aspiring to take admission in the undergraduate programs at IITs and ISM Dhanbad will have to appear in the JEE (Main). About 2,25,000 top candidates based on the performance of JEE (Main) (Paper 1) (B.E/BTech) (including all categories) will be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced).

Admissions to IITs/ISM Dhanbad will be based only on category-wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE (Advanced), subject to conditions as defined in JEE (Advanced) website.

Admission to NITs, IIITs and other institutions participating though Central Counselling Boards will be based on All India Rank in JEE Main as explained above along with the criteria of subject combinations mentioned in the table below.

Subject combinations required in the qualifying examination of admission to B.E/B.Tech and B.Arch / B.Planning Courses in NITs, IIITs, and other CFTIs shall be as under.

Birla Institute of Technology and  Science (BITS) - Pilani:

There is no time limit for individual parts of the test. The candidate can go back and change any of his/her answers among the 150 questions. If a candidate answers all the 150 questions without skipping any question, the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 (twelve) extra questions. These extra questions will be from Part I, II and IV (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics) only; four questions from each part. Further, once the candidate has opted for extra questions, he cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 150 questions.

For Integrated First Degree Programs B.E. (Hons.):
Candidate should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central / State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, Since the medium of instruction at BITS is English, candidates should have adequate proficiency in English. Further, the candidate should have obtained a minimum aggregate of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in 12th examination, with atleast 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.

Students who are appearing for 12th examination in current year are eligible to appear in BITSAT. Students who have passed the 12th examination in the previous year are eligible to appear in the BITSAT current year test. If a candidate has taken more than one attempt in 12th class or its equivalent, only his latest performance is considered, provided this attempt has been for the full component of subjects/ courses prescribed.

Students who have passed 12th examination two years back or earlier are NOT eligible to appear in BITSAT. Further, students who are presently studying in BITS at any of its campuses are not eligible to appear in BITSAT test.

Admissions will be made purely on merit. The merit position of the candidate for admission will be based on the score obtained by the candidate in the BITSAT. However, their eligibility for admission is subject to fulfilling the requirement of minimum marks in 12th examination, as mentioned above.

Direct Admission to Board Toppers:
In the past, admission process of the institute always ensued guaranteed admission to all the students who obtained first ranks in their respective board examinations. This has given a very vital input of highly meritorious students from all over India. First rank students of all the central and state boards in India for the current year will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT score as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above. Olympiads:
The Olympiad Program in India is conducted through the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, HBCSE which aims at promoting excellence in science among pre-university students and selecting teams of students to represents India at the International Olympiads in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. India has also represented at the International Olympiads in Mathematics and astronomy. HBCSE is the nodal centre for the Olympiad activity in India in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Astronomy.

In 1997-98, HBCSE and the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) jointly took the initiative of starting the Olympiad program in Physics. A year later, through HBCSE initiates this programme was extended to Chemistry and Biology.

The National Olympiad Program in Physics, Chemistry and Biology is overseen by and Integrated National Steering Committee constituted by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) under its Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS). The program is financially supported by BRNS (DAE), Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

Stages:
The Olympiad selection is a multi-tier process. It consists of five stages:

1) National Standard Examinations
2) Indian National Olympiads
3) Orientation cum Selection Camps
4) Pre-departure Training Camps
5) International Olympiads

In this section the student will get information about the eligibility and structure of the various mentioned above.

Stage I: National Standard Examination (NSE) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology
NSE is the first stage of selection of students in the National Olympiad Program organized by Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and Indian Association of Chemistry Teachers (IACT). Every student aspiring to go through successive stages of the program must enroll for NSE. NSEs will be held at a large number of centres in the country.

Stage II: Indian National Olympiad Examinations
For Indian National Olympiad Examinations, the national top 200-250 students selected from NSEP, NSEC and NSEB each. They are eligible to appear for Indian National Physics Olympiad (INPhO), Indian National Chemistry Olympiad (INChO) and Indian National Biology Olympiad (INBO) respectively. These examinations comprise two parts.

Indian National Olympiads are held sometimes in the last week of January or early February. They are organized by HBCSE in collaboration with IAPT, IACT, IATBS and NCSM. These examinations are held at about 15 Centres in the country. The dates and schedule of these examinations are communicated in due course to the eligible students selected from Stage I examinations. The National Olympiads in different subjects are held on separate days/ timings so that a student who is eligible to appear for more than one subject can do so. Students appearing INPhO/ INChO / INBO are eligible for TA /DA as per the norms of the programme.

Stage III: Orientation cum Selection Camps (OCSC)
The short-listed groups of about 50 students in each subject are invited to the Orientation cum Selection camps organized by HBCSE. The camps are of one week duration in each subject. They are held in HBCSE in the month of May/June. Care is taken that they are after the IIT JEE (main) exam for Physics and Chemistry students and after the AIIMS exam for Biology students. The camps include several theoretical and experimental tests. Orientation is provided to students especially for the experimental tests. At the end of the camp in each subject, the best 25 students in Physics, the best 25 in Chemistry and the best 25 in Biology are selected to be the INPho Gold Medalists, INChO Gold Medalists and INBO Gold Medalists respectively.

The camps conclude with an award function where distinguished scientists are invited to speak to the students. Each Gold Medalist receives a medal, a certificate and a complimentary book.

Stage IV: Training of Indian Teams for International Olympiads
The selected Indian teams undergo a rigorous training programme at HBCSE in theory and experiment. Special laboratories have been developed at HBCSE for the purpose. Resource persons from different institutions across the country are invited to the training camps. As per International Olympiad statutes, the training in Chemistry and Biology is limited to 2 weeks duration. In Physics the training is for 3 weeks.

Stage V: Participation in International Olympiads in Physics (IPhO), Chemistry (IChO) and Biology (IBO)
The 4-member student team, 2 teacher leaders and a scientific observer constitute the delegation to represent India at the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO)

The 4-member student team, 2 teacher leaders and a scientific observer constitute the Indian delegation to the International Biology Olympiad (IBO).

Junior Science Olympiad:
The International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) is a competitive examination open to students of all countries in the world, primarily studying in secondary schools. All basic subjects of Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics) are given roughly equal representation in the IJSO examination.

Beginning the year 2008-2009, the National Olympiad Programme includes Junior Science also.

Stages:
The Junior Science Olympiad program will follow the following 5 stages:

1) National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS).
2) Indian National Junior Science Olympiad (INJSO),
3) Orientation cum Selection Camp (OCSC) in junior science,
4) Pre-departure Training Camp (PDT) for IJSO,
5) Participation in International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).

Stage I will be entirely the responsibility of IAPT. All the remaining stages will be organized by the HBCSE.

Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET):

The minimum qualification to appear for EAMCET is

1) Candidate should have passed or appeared for the final year for Intermediate Examination (10 +2 pattern) with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional or related vocational courses in the fields of Engineering and Technology, conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, Telangana, along with bridge course or courses conducted by it for candidates enrolled during 2000 onward or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the Board of Intermediate Education, Telangana.

OR

Candidate should have passed or appeared at the final year of the Diploma examination in Engineering conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Telangana or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Telangana.

2)(a) In the case of Engineering, Pharmacy courses, candidates should have completed 16 years of age 31st December of the year of admission. There is not upper age limit.

(b) In the case of B.Tech (Dairy Technology), B.Tech (Ag. Engineering), B.Tech (FS & T) and B.Sc. (CA & BM) offered in Acharya N.G Ranga Agricultural University, candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission and an upper age limit of 22 years for the all candidates and 25 years in respect of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates as on 31st December of the year of admission.

National Talent Search Examination (NTSE):
National Talent Search Scheme is a flagship activity of the NCERT started in the year 1963. The purpose of the scheme was to identify talented students and nurture their talent. Talent refers to the potentiality that manifests itself in a high level of performance in one or more specialized areas. The scheme, therefore, covers areas like Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law. It honours and helps talented students by providing financial assistance in the form of a monthly scholarship. For the courses in Basic Sciences, Social sciences and Commerce, this assistance is provided up to Ph.D. level. For professional courses like Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law this assistance is given only up to Post Graduation. The NCERT conducts the National Talent Search Examination for students studying Class X. However change was made in 2006 wherein the NTSE Examination was held at end of Class VIII. From 2012 (till date), this is again being held for Class X students only.

Selection Process: There will be two-stage selection process for award of scholarship. For Stage-I, which is conducted at state level, the selection process will be done by States / UTs through a written examination. Students who qualify Stage-I will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, which is in national level conducted by NCERT.

Eligibility: Students of Class X studying in any recognized school are eligible to appear for Stage-I examination conducted by the States/UTs in which the school is located. There will be no domicile restriction.

Examination: The pattern of the examination will be as follows:

Stage-I examination at the state/UT level will comprise two parts, namely (a) Mental Ability Test (MAT) and (b) Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) which also includes Language Comprehensive Test.

State-II examination at the National level will comprise (a) Mental Ability Test (MAT), (b) Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) covering Language, Social Sciences, Sciences and Mathematics.

The pattern of Stage-II examination will be as follows:

At Stage-II (National Level) Exam, there will be negative marking in each section. For each wrong answer 1/3rd marks will be deducted. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.

Language Test Qualifying in nature and marks obtained for Language Test will not be counted for final merit.

Eligibility for Scholarship: If a candidate is selected, the scholarship shall be paid for pursuing studies in India only.

Reservation: 15% for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% for students belonging to the ST category and 3% for Physically Challenged Group of Students.

Qualifying Marks: Qualifying marks for candidates from General category is 40% in each section and for candidates from SC, ST, PH is 35% in each section.

Scholarships: About One thousand scholarships are awarded for different stages of education as follows:

(a) Scholarship of Rs.1250/- per month for Class-XI to XII.
(b) Scholarship of Rs.2000/- per month for Undergraduates and Post-graduates.
(c) Amount of Scholarship for Ph.D. be fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.
